(1) Define Sir Walter Raleigh and the Lost Colony of Roanoke and the purpose of face colonization. Sir Walter Raleigh was a protestant from England that was granted the right to be the first to colonize America by Queens Elizabeth I. The purpose of face colonization was to find riches and have a base of operations to attack Spanish trade routes to the naked instauration. Sir Walter Raleign organized the colonization but the actual colonization was forwardness up by Ralph lane and Richard Greenville which were distant cousins of Raleigh. Roanoke was the first habituation established by the English in North America. The colony was established in 1585 and only lasted 10 months. The colonists were not as clever as their Jamestown counterparts who would settle 22 years later. They kidnapped and apply the Native Americans, who ended up resenting the colonists. Roanoke gained its infamy as the Lost Colony when after a large arrogate of the colonists returned back to England, the remaining colonists disappeared. The significance of this shows how difficult it was to settle in a completely unknown place and the perils of the New World.
