Abstract
Prestressed concrete girders with corrugated sword webs be one of the promising concretesteel hybrid structures applied to thoroughfare bridges. Prestress can be e?ciently introduced into the concrete ?anges due to the so-called accordion
e?ect of the corrugated web. In this paper, a simple approach is presented to account for 3-dimensional phenomena of the accordion e?ect using link-type elements within a two-dimensional ?nite element model. The good links
are given a very high sti?ness to fully transmit vertical shear force, whereas the horizontal link sti?ness is given a value
calculated from the out-of-plane bending of a folded plate forming each trapezoidal corrugation.

Viability of the approach is demonstrated through comparison of experimental and numeral results for a large-scale specimen of a prestressed concrete institutionalise with corrugated steel web.

1. Introduction
Prestressed concrete (PC) box girders with corrugated steel webs are one of the promising concretesteel
hybrid structures applied to highway bridges [13].
Some advantages of using the corrugated steel web are
summarized as follows:
1. The decreased dead weight of corrugated steel web,
compared to concrete web, leads to reduced seismic
forces and smaller substructures, which will result
in a lower construction cost of the bridge.
2. The corrugated steel...If you want to stop a full essay, order it on our website: Orderessay
