Analysis of the conceptual fashion model of the SWOSU curriculum
The conceptual framework for the nursing curriculum of SWOSU is designed based on a model in which the major concepts of man, environment, wellness and nursing spend a penny the foundation. The concepts are further broken down in to deuce distinct sub-concepts ( concatenations), namely, the horizontal strand and straight strand. The horizontal strand are nursing process, internal and external environment, human responses and holistic. The vertical strands include health continuum, professionalism, leadership and critical thinking. These sub-concepts are meant to crystallize the major concepts as they relate to the practice of nursing. The faculty has place seven theories that they find are basic to the concepts and sub-concepts and have been employ in the practice of nursing to facilitate optimal health of the client. The seven theories identified are: system theory, need theory, converse theory, developmental theory, change theory, stress-adaptation theory and teaching-learning theory.




Faculty recognizes man as a biopsychosocial and spiritual being in constant interaction with his environment. It is understood that man’s necessities are driving tug behind his choices and action. The concept of man and his environment is interrelated as the environment is considered all that is internal as well as external to man. Therefore, man’s existence partly relies on his dependence on his environment. As his environment changes, man has to wil luxurianty adapt to those changes, by making some decision influenced by his environment.
