Classical conditioning- a technique used in behavioural training, it also involves automatic or reflexive responses and non voluntary behaviour.
Pavlov came across this investigation by accident with domineering outcomes; he investigated the function of dogs by examining the salivary gland so he could collect, measure, and analyse the saliva and what response it had to viands to a lower place different conditions. He noticed that the dogs tended to salivate before food was actually delivered to their mouths
Pavlov was a behaviourist. This means that his theories focused on plain behaviour, which can be measured.
Pavlov studied reflexes automatic behaviour that is caused by a stimulus from the environment.
Pavlovs theories where very influential, in particular in the field of barbarian psychology.

As a carer know the child has conditioned responses related to care routines. (see examples)

Classical conditioning- carers are able to pass on classical conditioning in the class by creating a positive environment to help children overcome anxiety or fear.
How is it seen in current practice
Related to care routines, get together the needs of the child at different times e.g.
meal times; when feeding a baby putting them in a highchair only when food is prepared. If a child is placed into a hair chair and is expecting their food true away but there is a delay in the food being then this would lead to the child become confused and inpatient. (Condition response, Highchair = food)
Another example is putting a child in their pyjamas and then not putting them to relief straight away this then confuses the child as they are expecting to be put to sleep. (conditioned response, pyjamas= bed time)
