Othello starts in a dramatic fashion, Act 1 scene 1 opens with Iago speaking bitterly over the style he has been cheated by Othello.
In this we get our offset glimpse Iagos true character and his determined drive for vengeance. We first encounter Iago as he is coming to the conclusion that he has been wasting his life living in an honest, loyal and lesson fashion. If he continues in this way, he will be tossed when he is no longer of use to his master. This leads to a major exchange of heart and his decision to abandon values, just as he has been abandoned by Othello.
