I was confirmed when I was in 8th grade, at the age of 13 days old. I was excited by the idea of receiving the sacrament of Confirmation because it was my eldest decreed step into the world of adults. The training I real before my Confirmation ceremony was much less official and intimidating than I first expected. Once a workweek I would attend a class in which myself and opposite kids my age learned different aspects of Catholic doctrine, memorized the Apostles assent and other prayers, and researched our patron saint. My patron saint is Saint denim D twinkle, more commonly known as Joan of Arc. I chose her because she was beautiful, French, strong, brave, feminine, and pure. She taught that it take fors immense courage to do the business thing, especially when the right thing is the wrong thing in a lay world. I also chose a Confirmation sponsor to be my spiritual role model, and her name is Meris Chaumont. She was a few years older than I was and was actively involved with the teen callowness group at our church. She was hilarious, sweet, and loved God. Her and I are dummy up friends, and she has since then graduated from Saint Thomas University and has joined the Dominican Sisters of Mary.
In order to understand Catholicism better, I was promote to ask questions, voice doubts, and argue with the teacher, all of which I did with pleasure.
On the actual day of my confirmation, I entered the church young and nervous, and left(a) feeling older and happy. After dressing up in my long, baby blue confirmation dress, myself, Meris, and my family went to Saint Louis Catholic church early in order to hang up the Joan of Arc banner I had made and to find good seats. I was seated next to my friends in rows near the front of the church that were specially reserved for all of the Confirmation candidates.
